Top Gun Cary Game #3: RV Fishers 10, BIG Reds 1

Game #3 started at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. We were able to cheer on the Cardinals before our game and several of them stayed our entire game to cheer us on.

Once again the Fishers manufactured runs using ONLY big barrel bats.

Offense: This time against the Fishers we got only 4 hits and 1 run.  Evan, Tanner, Edward and Jonah had singles.  Edward got an RBI and Sticks and Edward both had sac flies to move runners into scoring position.  Evan scored our only run.  The offensive player of the game went to Andrew Locke. Andrew laid down a sacrifice bunt perfectly, moving a runner into scoring position. The coach gave him a look and the sign (he will go to his grave with what the sign was), and Andrew knew immediately what to do.  The coach called it perfect execution.  Andrew also had a great hit to the outfield at the end of the game that took a major league catch to steal away what would have been a triple.

Defense: The Fishers had 15 hits and 10 runs.  In our first game they had 12 hits and 15 runs, which means this time around we did a much better job of holding the runners from scoring and brought the ball in from the outfield much faster.  Great job, boys!

Edward, Jonah, Will, Tanner, Jack and Sticks all had put outs.  Christian, Matt, Jack and Sam (twice) caught fly balls.  Will and Tanner both caught flaming line-drives.  The defensive player of the game went to Drew who had three put outs. First, Drew playing short stop, stopped a hard grounder and threw it to 3rd to get the lead runner.  Then playing center field, he threw the ball in to 2nd to get another runner.  And then playing short again, he fielded another grounder cleanly and threw out the runner at second.

Another highlight of this game was when Drew in center field, grabbed a hard hit grounder, threw it to the cut off man, Tanner, who sent it straight to the catcher, Jack, to get the runner trying to score from 2nd.  Great tag at the base and the runner was out!  Way to go!
