Practice #5: Who's in charge?

Practice began tonight with everyone wondering where Coach Eric, the BIG Reds manager was. It was determined that he was hard at work trying to figure out when the BIG Reds would be playing this weekend.

Once on the dirt Will was very inquisitive to who was in charge when Coach Eric was missing. Coach Andrew was the lucky one to address Will's questions. Coach Andrew was overheard telling Will that in All Star baseball there is a Manager and several Coaches it is different from regular season. The BIG Reds' manager is Coach Eric. When the manager is missing the Coaches all step in to lead together. Which lead to "Where is Coach Ed?" This would not be answered until sitting at the dinner table when Sticks informed us,  "Edward told me his dad was going to the hospital because he was stung by a bee."

The players were seen taking part in:

  • Glove side relays
  • Players at short and second and work on a 6-4/4-6 drill emphasizing quickness to the bag and making a target by the receiving player, and turning two.
  • Players work on catching fly ball getting the ball back to the catcher via the cut off
  • 4 inning inter-squad scrimmage with Coach Andrew pitching
  • Grass ball with Coach Jim pitching
The BIG Reds are in action tomorrow at West Raleigh in a scrimmage against the 8u Blues at 5 p.m. sporting red shirts.
