SJBA Game #1 vs Clayton

The BIG Reds came ready to play in their opening game of the South Johnston Baseball Tournament. The boys won 15-4 in 3 1/2 innings.

The BIG Red Offense theme of the night was  "Everybody hit tonight!!!"  Tanner, Matt and Sam all had stand up doubles. 

Will - 2-3 + RBI, 2 runs scored
Tanner - 1-2 Double, RBI, 2 runs scored
Matt - 1-2 Double RBI, run scored
Evan - 1-2 + 3RBI, run scored
Sam 1-2 Double, RBI
Drew 1-2 + RBI, 2 runs scored
Andrew 1-2 run scored
Edward 1-2 +2 RBI, run scored
Jonah 1-2 +RBI 2 runs scored
Christian 1-2 +RBI 2 runs scored
Jack 1-2 + 2RBI
Sticks 1-2 +RBI, run scored

All three innings were cut short for us as we hit the 5 run rule (even as we still had guys running into home in the middle of the play!) .   First inning we had 1 out, 2nd inning 2 outs, and 3rd inning no outs when we hit 5 runs. 


Defense -

First two innings we let a few through (1 run in the first, 3 runs in the 2nd), but by the 3rd and 4th innings, we had solid defense and held them to 1 hit total for both innings.

Offensive Stars of the Game - The whole Red Team for their awesome hitting tonight and scoring the maximum runs possible each inning!

Defensive Star of the Game - Edward - for executing perfectly before the coaches even had a chance to say anything.   It was the 4th inning and Edward was in right field.  A hard hit ground ball in the gap skipped through between the first and second basemen.  Edward charged the ball, picked it up and threw to 1st base to get the batter running.   It was just like he does it in practice... perfect.  Way to go Edward!
