Game 1 for the BIG Reds started bright an early on Saturday. After a coin flip it was determined we would be the home team. The BIG Reds won 15-5 in 5 1/2 innings South Wake Storm.
Offense - We had 18 hits - 3 doubles by Drew Sotell, Edward and Jack; 1 triple by Evan. Offensive player of the game went to Drew Sotell who went 3-3 with a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
Defense - Player of the game - Edward. In the 4th inning, he played 3rd. He fielded a grounder, held the runner at 2nd, then threw out the batter at 1st. On the very next play, he fielded another grounder and tagged the guy running from 2nd to 3rd for the third out of the inning.
Other defensive highlights - 1st inning, 1st play of the game - batter intentionally bunted, and Matt charged the ball, grabbed it and threw it to first for the first out. Set the stage for a good aggressive defensive game for us. Tanner and Jonah both caught pop-fly balls. There were other good put outs by Sam, Will, Drew, Andrew and Sticks.
We held them to only 5 hits.
