Tar Heel District III: Game 2 vs East Chatham #2

Game 2 for the BIG Reds took place Friday evening vs. East Chatham 2. The BIG Reds won 6-0 in 4 1/2 innings. The BIG Reds had 14 hits and East Chatham #2 had only 1 hit.  We held them to "3-up 3-down" in four innings, and the other inning took only 4 batters to get 3 outs. The BIG Reds' defense was amazing tonight!

Defense for the BIG Reds:
  • Put-outs - Tanner (twice), Edward (three times!), Will (three times!), Evan and Sticks.
  • Pop-Flies - Will and Andrew.

Offense for the BIG Reds:

We had some trouble with our bats to start, but still ended with 14 hits in the game.

Will 1-2, run scored
Drew 0-2
Tanner 2-2, Double, RBI, run scored
Evan 1-2, Triple*, 2RBI, run scored
Sam 2-2
Andrew 0-2
Sticks 1-2 run scored
Matt 2-2 Triple, RBI
Jonah 0-2
Jack 1-2, run scored
Edward 2-2 double, RBI, run scored
Christian 2-2, and game winning RBI

The Offensive Stars of the Game go to Christian for hitting his Walk-Off single in the bottom of the 5th, scoring Edward to win the game, putting it out of reach for East Chatham #2 to catch up.  He went 2-2 in the game with a RBI.

A second star goes to Tanner for starting off the 4th inning with a hit to left center field, which got our bats going ultimately scoring three in that inning.  Tanner also had a double, RBI and scored a run in this game (plus he got two big singles in the previous game, scoring twice there as well!)

Defensive star of the game goes to Andrew Locke for his diving catch in left field tonight. Coach always says that you have to go for the plays you want to make and be aggressive and that's what Andrew did. He make a great snow cone catch, then held it above his head to show the ump he caught it. He also had 4 outs in the previous game playing pitcher.

The win tonight puts the BIG Reds in the Championship Game!
